A WORLD WITHOUT WIRES
D-Link Wireless Broadband Router

If you don’t want wires all over the place, check out the D-Link Wireless-G Broadband Router. Sales have been brisk, according to Courts, and would have been better if not for the units being given out as freebies when people buy certain personal computers and notebooks as packages with Internet service providers.

That’s because many home Internet users are now junking their wire-infested PC setups and going wireless instead. Whether it’s checking email with a wireless enabled notebook in the kitchen, or surfing the Net with a PDA, you can now log onto the World Wide Web from anywhere in your house with a wireless broadband router.

The D-Link series of wireless routers allow up to four wired PCs to share Internet access, should your PCs be in close proximity. Most owners of this units, however, prefer the convenience and easy accessibility of the Internet from anywhere in their homes.

A COOL NUMBER
Apple IPOD Video 30G MP3 Player

MP3 fanatics would have by now had a taste of APPLE’s latest offering of the IPOD Nano (2GB and 4GB models) MP3 players. Slim and sexy, Nano owners are the envy of teenagers and young adults who cannot seem to get enough of listening to their favourite tunes. There is nothing “cooler” than having a Nano strapped to your arm at the gym, or hung around your neck in a crowded MRT.

However, MTV video die-hards would probably prefer the 30GB IPOD Video MP3 player, which can play both audio and video files. In addition to 14 hours of music listening, you can also store up to 3 hours worth of video slide shows or enjoy up to two hours of video playback on its 2.5 inch colour display. The IPOD Video MP3 is also available in a 60GB model.

SHOP AROUND

New and updated models of IT and electronic products are constantly introduced into the market. It may be wise to first look at your budget ceiling before going on your gadget/gizmo hunt. Look out more for the important needs that the equipment can fulfill and not so much the additional functions which can potentially become white elephants to ama- teur users of the more sophisticated gadgets.

Happy shopping!
