Many
of us Singaporeans go through life like we're on a conveyor belt. We
address daily issues that we are expected to and take them on as our
responsibilities. Unfortunately, little do we realise that these are
just the micro responsibilities of our lives. Imagine the many things
around us which we take for granted. We conveniently ignore the macro
responsibilities like helping those in need, promoting social and family
values and looking after the environment we live in. We tend to assume
such responsibilities are that of Volunteer Welfare Organisations, Self-Help
Groups and of course, the government.
It is important to realise the need to take on macro responsibilities
and to make a collective effort to look after our fellow Singaporeans
and to upkeep the environment that we live in. I wish all Happy Earth
Day (April 22).
