Calling all singers, songwriters and musicians... the North East Original
Song Competition and MV Award 2005 is now open for entries.
Organised by the North East CDC to celebrate Singapore's 40th National
Day, this nationwide music competition entitled "Our Story, Our
Chords, Our Song" is to search for exceptional and original songs
that are uniquely Singapore.
Outstanding entries will be made into music videos to be broadcast
on radio and television as part of the National Day celebrations. Shortlisted
participants will perform at a grand fi nale before a panel of judges,
which includes famous names like Mr Ghanavenothan Retnam and Mr Iskandar
Ismail.
Winners will get cash and prizes worth up to $20,000, a studio recording

Time to Quit
Smoking is not cool but the "Quit" concert is! Held by the
North East CDC to launch its quit smoking campaign, and celebrate "World
No Tobacco Day", the action will be at the open space in front
of Hougang MRT station, on 29 May, from 5pm to 10pm.
It will be a special night put together by the CDC's Youth Committee
- EnergY! There will be vibrant and upbeat performances by hip hop groups
and other specially invited foreign and local artistes, to bring home
